<description><![CDATA[The 2014 PRRES Achievement Award was presented to Professor David Parker from the University of South Australia for his outstanding contribution to the Society, scholarly research, property education and interaction  with the property industry.

Professor Parker was instrumental in the initial formation of the Society and has served on the PRRES Board for three separate terms. In 1994, Professor Parker convened the first PRRES Postgraduate Colloquium, an event which has now become an established part of the PRRES Conference. Professor Parker edited the Society&rsquo;s first and second monographs, &ldquo;Property Into The Next Millennium&rdquo; published in 2000 and &ldquo;The Future of Property Education in Australia&rdquo; published in 2011. As President in 2007, Professor Parker restructured the governance of the Society prior to serving as Executive Director from 2010.  Becoming Editor of the Pacific Rim Property Research Journal in 2012, Professor Parker managed the transition of the Journal to external publication by the internationally recognised Taylor and Francis.

Professor Parker has researched and published widely in the area of property investment decision making and Real Estate Investment Trusts, being author of the highly regarded scholarly work &ldquo;Global Real Estate Investment Trusts: People, Process and Management&rdquo;. Professor Parker has also been at the cutting edge of property research with his work on optionality, including organising the RICS Foundation Global Symposium on &ldquo;Optionality&rdquo; in 2012.

Following appointment as the inaugural Professor of Property at the University of South Australia, Professor Parker led the development of the undergraduate course to include a greater focus on ethics and the inclusion of positive psychology, together with the development of the postgraduate product for AQF compliance.

Professor Parker was the first property practitioner in Australia to achieve a PhD in property and held senior management positions with various groups including Schroders, ANZ Funds Management and Morningstar, being the most active member of the property industry in the Society until his appointment to academia in 2009.

<description><![CDATA[The 2013 PRRES Achievement Award was presented to Associate Professor Greg Costello from the Curtin University for his outstanding contribution to PRRES.  Greg has been an outstanding property academic at all levels for many years, with his outstanding  leadership role at Curtin, leadership withing PRRES and international reputation. The calibre of his research into housing issues has been outstanding; with coverage across major journals ;eg: Urban Studies, Housing Studies, Journal of Banking and Finance....a wonderful research profile. This is supported by research grants from AHURI etc. 

His role within PRRES for many years has been outstanding with very positive outcomes; he has been PRRES President ,as well as actively contributing in PRRES conference organisation and in guest editor/editorial board roles with PRPRJ.

Greg has brought great credit to the property programs at Curtin and to PRRES, with his leadership and reputation internationally. He has also been very supportive of new property academics in these various roles.

<description><![CDATA[The 2011 PRRES Achievement Award was presented to Associate Professor Deborah Levy from the University of Auckland for her outstanding contribution to scholarly research, property education and interaction with the property industry.
Dr Levy&rsquo;s research into the behavioural aspects of property is world leading, being widely published and having won numerous best paper awards.

Dr Levy has been involved in property education for almost 25 years with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, focusing on encouraging students to think creatively and become effective problem solvers and decision makers. In recognition of her contribution to property education,

Dr Levy received the University of Auckland distinguished teaching award in 2000 and both the Deans Award and the Property Institute of New Zealand Academic Award in 2006. As a practitioner, Dr Levy has developed a close working relationship between the University of Auckland and the New Zealand property profession, including both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Property Institute of New Zealand of which she is a Fellow and past National Councillor.

Dr Levy has been an active member of PRRES for over a decade, being President in 2008, Conference Program Chair in 2006 and initiated the inclusion of the highly successful Case Competition in the Conference program.

John&rsquo;s role has been fundamental in the development of PRRES and seeing PRRES increase its membership base in recent years.

John has attended every PRRES conference since PRRES (and its predecessor) was established in 1989; eighteen in total. During this time, he has had an active property research agenda in the areas of property forecasting and mass valuations; presenting numerous research papers at the PRRES conference and publishing widely in PRPRJ, JREPM, JPR and JPIF. John has also been an active supporter of the other regional real estate societies; being a regular attender at ARES and ERES conferences.

John has taught the property students at UWS for over 25 years, as well as being actively involved with the API via his role in the high profile property forecasting survey conducted over the last 10 years.

John has been an outstanding supporter and leader within PRRES. He has done this role in a quiet but confident and focused manner.

Professionally, he has served in various strategic roles on Executive Boards of PRRES as well as the Association of Valuers and Property Consultants in Private Practice, the Institution of Surveyors Malaysia, and FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation).

John is a regular participant on the Conference and Convention circuit and, in addition to having attended almost every PRRES Conference (and its predecessor Australasian Educator&rsquo;s Conference), he has also attended the American Real Estate Society (ARES) and the Asian Real Estate Society (AsRES) conferences.

<description><![CDATA[Associate Professor Angelo Karantonis

The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) is proud to acknowledge Associate Professor Angelo Karantonis as the 2002 joint recipient of the PRRES Achievement Award. This award is the highest honour that PRRES can bestow on one of its members and is in recognition of the outstanding contribution of Angelo Karantonis to property education and research in the Pacific Rim. Angelo has been actively involved in property education for over 15 years at the University of Technology Sydney. For most of the last 10 years, he has been in charge of the UTS land economics program, working hard to raise the teaching and research profile of his team as well as forging strong links with the property industry in Sydney. Angelo has been the driving force behind the success of the Australian Land Economics Review (now the Pacific Rim Property Research Journal) as Chair of the Editorial Board.

 He serves on other editorial boards and has published in international journals. Angelo has been actively involved in the development of the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society since its inception. He has served on the Board since 1995, was President in 1999-2000, was joint Program Chair for the 2000 conference and is currently the Executive Director. Angelo represents PRRES on the Board of the International Real Estate Society and has regularly attended the conferences of the other regional Real Estate Societies. PRRES is pleased to give its Achievement Award to Associate Professor Angelo Karantonis in 2002 for his leading role in property education and research in the region for many years.

Doctor Sandy Bond

The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) is proud to acknowledge Doctor Sandy Bond as the 2002 joint recipient of the PRRES Achievement Award. This award is the highest honour that PRRES can bestow on one of its members and is in recognition of the outstanding contribution of Sandy Bond to property education and research in the Pacific Rim. In the last 8 years, Sandy has built a strong reputation for her research, most recently in the study of site contamination. Over this time, she has published widely in international journals and some of her articles have been recognised with prizes and awards. She was awarded her PhD in 2001. She serves on the editorial board of the Pacific Rim Property Research Journal. Sandy has been involved in property education for over 10 years, originally as a lecturer at Massey University and now as a senior lecturer at the University of Auckland. As well as her research, she brings her previous experiences as a property valuer to her teaching. Sandy has been actively involved in the development of the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society since its inception. She has served on the Board for many years and was President in 1997-1998, was Program Chair for the 1997 conference and has been Secretary and Newsletter Editor. Sandy represents PRRES on the Board of the International Real Estate Society and has regularly attended the conferences of the other regional Real Estate Societies. Maurice has ensured that the land economy and property discipline has developed as a highly respected discipline within the universities in Australia.

These efforts have been amply demonstrated by Maurice ensuring that the highest quality standards in property education are achieved both at RMIT and at the other Australian members offering property programs.
Maurice has ensured the linkages between property education and the property industry were strong though his property industry liaison via the Australian Property Institute and the Property Council of Australia. This has enabled considerable career opportunities for property graduates throughout Australia.

Maurice has also been a major team player, both with the property team at RMIT and within PRRES. He has always provided strong support and mentoring to numerous PRRES members as they have developed their property academic careers.

During this time, Patrick has assisted in developing the property programs at Curtin University to an international standard.

Patrick&#39;s text on property investment and finance is a high quality property text and is used extensively in all universities offering property programs in Australia, both at degree and post-graduate levels.

Patrick has published widely on a range of property issues including property investment, property investment strategies and office market analysis in various refereed property journals in Australia and UK. He is also on the editorial board for the Journal of Property Valuation and Investment, Journal of Property Finance and Australian Land Economics Review, as well as being external examiner for the RICS of the property degree at UTS.

Patrick has been actively involved in PRRES since 1995, having served on the PRRES board of directors and being program chair for the highly successful 4th PRRES conference in Perth in 1998. He has made a major contribution to the success and effective operation of PRRES.

<description><![CDATA[Professor Tom Whipple

The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) is proud to acknowledge Professor Tom Whipple as the joint 1998 recipient of the PRRES Achievement Award.

This is the highest honour that PRRES can bestow on one of its members and is in recognition of the outstanding contribution by Tom Whipple to property education and research in the Pacific-Rim.

With over 32 years of leadership in property education and research at both the University of Sydney and Curtin University, Tom is one of the founding fathers of property education and research in Australia.

Having establishing post-graduate programs in property at the University of Sydney in 1969, Tom has published extensively in leading international property journals such as the Journal of Property Finance, Land Development Studies and Journal of Property Valuation and Investment. His research contribution has been over a wide range of areas, including valuation and property development.

In addition, Tom has published leading texts in commercial rent reviews, valuation reporting standards and property development. His text on property valuation and analysis is a leading learned text, widely used in property education throughout Australian and New Zealand universities.

With his property industry background, Tom has had strong linkages into the property professions via BOMA, AIVLE and NZIV. He was also the first Australian property academic to actively participate in the USA and UK property environments, regularly visiting on sabbatical and visiting professor appointments; as well as more recently, initiating property courses in Asia.

Many property academics, including Patrick Rowland and Greg Costello, have greatly benefited from Tom&sup1;s guidance throughout their property education and research careers.

Associate Professor Graeme Newell

The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) is proud to acknowledge Associate Professor Graeme Newell as the joint 1998 recipient of the PRRES Achievement Award.
This is the highest honour that PRRES can bestow on one of its members and is in recognition of the outstanding contribution by Graeme Newell to property education and research in the Pacific-Rim.

Graeme has been one of the driving forces behind the establishment of PRRES in 1994, having been Execute Chairperson of PRRES in 1994 and the first President of PRRES over 1995-96. Graeme has helped ensure PRRES is a leading real estate society, competitive with the American Real Estate Society (ARES) and the European Real Estate Society (ERES).

Graeme has also been actively involved in the International Real Estate Society (IRES), having been IRES President over 1995-96, as well as representing PRRES on the IRES board of directors from 1993-98. This has ensured PRRES is effectively linked into the international property education and research community.
Having taught in the property area at the University of Western Sydney for 23 years, Graeme has been an active player in the evolution and development of property education at UWS. He has also undertaken numerous visiting academic appointments in Hong Kong, New Zealand, UK and China.

Graeme has published extensively in the leading property journals in the USA, UK, Asia and Australasia, largely in the area of property risk analysis and international property investment. He is on the editorial board for eight refereed property journals, as well as having achieved significant research grant funding both nationally and internationally to further develop the property research body of knowledge.

Graeme is also actively involved in the Australian property industry, particularly through the AIVLE, BOMA and UDIA, as well as mentoring numerous property academics in their property careers.

Given his ongoing commitment and leadership, PRRES is pleased to award the PRRES Achievement Award to Associate Professor Graeme Newell in recognition of his many outstanding achievements in property education and research.

The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) is proud to acknowledge Professor Tom Whipple as the joint 1998 recipient of the PRRES Achievement Award.

This is the highest honour that PRRES can bestow on one of its members and is in recognition of the outstanding contribution by Tom Whipple to property education and research in the Pacific-Rim.

With over 32 years of leadership in property education and research at both the University of Sydney and Curtin University, Tom is one of the founding fathers of property education and research in Australia.

Having establishing post-graduate programs in property at the University of Sydney in 1969, Tom has published extensively in leading international property journals such as the Journal of Property Finance, Land Development Studies and Journal of Property Valuation and Investment. His research contribution has been over a wide range of areas, including valuation and property development.

In addition, Tom has published leading texts in commercial rent reviews, valuation reporting standards and property development. His text on property valuation and analysis is a leading learned text, widely used in property education throughout Australian and New Zealand universities.

With his property industry background, Tom has had strong linkages into the property professions via BOMA, AIVLE and NZIV. He was also the first Australian property academic to actively participate in the USA and UK property environments, regularly visiting on sabbatical and visiting professor appointments; as well as more recently, initiating property courses in Asia.

Many property academics, including Patrick Rowland and Greg Costello, have greatly benefited from Tom&sup1;s guidance throughout their property education and research careers.

Key players in the department such as Chau Kwong Wing, Li Ling Hin and K.C. Wong have been strongly supported and influenced by Tony throughout their property careers.

Tony has also been actively involved in various government committees and advisory decision making bodies regarding land usage in Hong Kong; particularly the Hong Kong Town Planning Board. In doing so, Tony has helped shape the face of urban development of Hong Kong.

Tony&#39;s involvement with PRRES has been extensive, having been a founding director of PRRES in 1995. <description><![CDATA[The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society (PRRES) is proud to acknowledge William Cleghorn as the inaugural 1996 recipient of the PRRES Achievement Award.  The Award was presented to Bill by Profesor Bob Hargreaves of Massey University. This is the highest honour that PRRES can bestow on one of its members and is in recognition of the outstanding contribution by Bill Cleghorn to property education in the Pacific-Rim, particularly in New Zealand.

Bill Cleghorn through his role in the New Zealand Institute of Valuers has been a driving force in the development and support of property education in New Zealand for many years. Bill was the initiator in 1989 of the first conference between property educators, professionals and employers in New Zealand. This lead to the inaugural Australasian Real Estate Educators Conference held at Lincoln University, Christchurch in December 1990. This was the first time property educators and practitioners in the Australasian region had held a conference, with over 80 attending. This first stage laid the groundwork for the subsequent establishment of PRRES in 1995, with Bill being one of the foundation directors of PRRES.

Bill Cleghorn has been actively involved in property education in New Zealand having been chairperson of the NZIV Education Board for seven years. He has strongly supported the development of property education and all of the New Zealand universities offering property programs. He contributed to the development of high standard property texts in New Zealand to assist practitioners, as well as facilitating the introduction of the CPD program for the New Zealand property industry.

PRRES is pleased to award the inaugural PRRES Achievement Award to William Cleghorn in recognition of his many outstanding achievements in supporting property education.
